"it was this very thing, picking and choosing the things that fit out of the Bible that led to my loss of faith"

My parents took me to church every Sunday as a child, even though neither of them was a Christian, and actually believed in any of the myth crap, as Ten claims to do. My mom went because "everyone did it" and it was sort of a social club for her. My dad went because my mom made him, and also to fit in. Of course, all their children had to go, attend Sunday school, and learn all about Jesus and Christianity, which I did until I was about 14. Then, I refused to go.

What struck me were that NO ONE in the church actually followed the teachings of Jesus, not even the pastor. The whole thing was just a dumb, ritualistic habit. Businessmen used it to make contacts and gain customers. The women went for the social club. The kids went because their parents made them.

I dropped out of church shortly after being baptized because I got dipped in the water, and all I got was totally wet. No revelation, no sudden blessing, no insight - just wet.

CJ,
He also made the point many times that just possessing things encumbered you and tied you to the physical world.
No he didn't:

Phil 4:12 (NAS) I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.

Tenchu, it was this very thing, picking and choosing the things that fit out of the Bible that led to my loss of faith.
And yet here you are, picking and choosing things that fit your view that the Bible is more closely aligned to Marxism.
