I posted the following thought in a private email to someone (edited here to include CSCO):

"I'd really be kind of be amazed if CPQ didn't at least make a big push for ASND.ÿ The latter competes with COMS and CSCO big time.ÿ The former wants to compete with COMS and CSCO big time.ÿ If Alan Lutz means what he says, he buys ASND, even at a premium."

I cannot predict whether CPQ will in fact acquire ASND, but I do think what I said above makes sense.

P.S. I just reread an old post of mine analyzing the "tea leaves" and concluding that CPQ was a likely buyer. A great portion of what I wrote was just plain wrong. (Like the concept of a 11/1 letter of intent idea...what utter hogwash!) Funny thing is, there was one person (Maverick) who liked the post, but only vis-a-vis CPQ as a potential dark horse suitor. He knew the rest was hogwash too.

No, if we ever get taken over by an entity such as CPQ or LU, we can gloat about how ASND can now focus purely on kicking some COMS/CSCO ass, with a new big sugar daddy providing the war chest for aquisitions, more R&D, and price-wars. ;o)
