I doubt that there will be outright confiscation of physical gold. It is too difficult and too unpopular. It may even lead to increased purchases of gold on the black market. There may, however, be attempts to tax transactions of gold or increase taxes on capital gains in gold. I consider gold an insurance policy first, and, second, an investment/trade when there is a fairly clear indication that it is breaking out, the time frame of which is not knowable. I do think that eventually the POG will rise substantially.
