Given that the ancient Greeks established the Earth was round and had a decent idea of the size, i-node is on pretty shaky ground with his assertion.

Dave, there WEREN'T any "top scientists" when people believed that.
Fixed.

There have been scientists all throughout human history. Of course, there was no such thing as a "consensus of top scientists" back then.

Come to think of it, there is no "consensus of top scientists" today, either. The only time modern science ever reaches a "consensus" is when a theory becomes a law.

Global warming is still a theory. Even now it's subject to revisions and debate.
