John, the reason I'm interested in this is that quartz is considered somewhat unreliable, while GPS data is certainly constant. Someone suggested that Trimble uses a better quality composite quartz, but I don't know that that would improve accuracy or even reliability. If the primary reliance is on the GPS signal, I don't care very much whether the other medium used is quartz, glass, or lime jello.
