You are right. Clearly charts do not predict news nor do they make the stock to go higher or lower. However, I think that they provide useful information like trends, support and resistance level, which themselves can stop price advance and declines while waiting for the news. In that sense, the trader can improves it timing. As I said, in the end, the fundamentals tells the story. So I am not in complete disagreement with what you said. But I don't totally agree either.
