Your discussion caused me to consider an interesting economic relationship that no one has commented on. That is, many SE Asian currencies have depreciated relative to the Chinese currency -- but the Chinese currency has held ground.

Considering that VCD sales are primarily in China, and that CUBE chips and/or VCD players are made in SE Asia or China, one might reasonably expect a *boost* (currency cost benefit) somewhere in the VCD production/sales chain. This could be one or more of 1) increased unit sales of CUBE chips and/or VCD players 2) increased margins for VCD makers or 3) lower-priced VCD players.

...given the relative changes in currency relationships, and considering China now has more buying power in this scenario, it seems concerns over VCD player price cuts may be misguided...
