Could someone direct me towards information (on the web) concerning basic tax issues regarding equity investments. I'm a new investor and have been accumulating QWST since the initial IPO. I'd like to start some short term investing as well with QWST but I don't know what the tax implications are regarding my "long term holdings". When you have bought shares of a company several times during a year and have then sold some as well, what is the basis for determining capital gains? I obviously would rather pay capital gains on stock I bought at $48 not on the ones I bought at $29!!
