Good points. So what if there is a National Sales tax? Either way, you're going to get taxed--I think I'd take my chances and get the taxes out of the way first. Just a judgement call, though. Everyone's situation is different, and you should do what makes sense for you.

And, as much as a national sales tax would make sense, it'd never fly--the Demos would cry foul saying it is a tax break for the rich and a burden to the poor. Also, don't forget that the accounting and legal lobbies would fight this tooth and nail, as a reversion to a simple sales tax instead of income based taxes with a complicated tax code would take a big chunk of business away from the accountants and attorneys. It's a nice theory, but all the lobbyists with vested interests in keeping things the way they are would kill this thing.
