Look at the 15 year chart of consistent increases in gas prices, as our debt mounted and our dollar has consistently been devalued. Draw the trendline from 15 years ago to today. What do you see?

I guess you don't understand statistics. A consistent trend of price increases over 15 years counts as a trend with a correlation, not a blip, although 2009 did spike downwards. Care to try to explain away a 15 year upward trend?
