Low latency for networked video games is key, too.

Another great market, but I don't hear it mentioned, is re-runs of TV shows. In other words, you select your favorite TV show and ask for a certain episode (which you can find with key words - guest actors, etc) and the show will be played for you.

This is a goldmine for the TV producers! It is too expensive to put the average TV episode on CD but if it just sits in a database waiting to be played there is almost no cost. Think of all the stuff that goes out over the air for which there is a audience but not great enough to warrant a CD (doctors talking to doctors about some medical treatment, etc.).

I know what the acronym, VOD, means, but I don't really know what it means in the form it would take in cable. Do you select a movie from a menu on your computer or from a menu on the tube? This an issue we've discussed. DH and others feel the settop appliance split off from the main feed is the way to go. I have suggested a feed coming off the modem card. The card would need the hardware drivers? I think the company has this addressed, but I don't know what their strategy exactly is.
