Chinu, not sure where that post of yours comes from. If you read through my last 10 years of posts, I have been very consistent in my desire for the US to focus on green energy. One of the most compelling reasons why I voted for Obama was because he said that our Big Oil addiction was the nexus creating our problems of terrorism, Climate Change, and the economy...and he was right. It is the last major thing that I think Obama got right and he's made great progress on pushing that agenda, despite the idiot GOP who don't believe in science and don't want to acknowledge that oil dependency is driving very stupid and costly US policies in the Middle East.

I drive a Honda Insight, btw, and it gets 48 mpg. I love it. So your post was completely off base. I'm surprised, because you've been reading my posts for many years now and you should know that protecting our Environment and Green Energy is a very big issue for me, which I whole heartedly believe in.

As to your claim that you never use gas as a yardstick for inflation, well sure, I believe that. It's kind of like when the Dems and Bernanke claim there's no inflation. My response is that sure, if you don't eat or drive or pay utility bills, then there's no inflation. But if you are like the other 99% Americans, who spend the majority of their money on food, gas, utilities, and rent or mortgage, then there's a whole hell of a lot of inflation. Smoothing, hedonics, and substitution in the BLS figures won't make people believe there's no inflation when they are seeing their hard earned money simply not buying them what it used to a few years ago.
