Andrew two things-1) A Nasdaq company, Televideo(TELV)800/835-3228 or 408/954-8333, that I follow invested $3 million in a private company specializing in the developement of this type of advertising (the news release is from this summer but I can't retrieve back that far or I would print, you're more than welcome to search). 2) this was just a general statement that I have come across through descriptions of what industry ADOT is in. There is no way ADOT is the only company able to build these, if so this would be a $50 stock. Their Patent will be the key, if it can separate them from the competition than ADOT will be very successful.
I hope you didn't take my previous post as a slam on ADOT, I just expected more by now, based on their press releases earlier this year....I think that is fair.

TELEVIDEO PARTNERS WITH OUTDOOR ELECTRONIC DISPLAY FIRM

SAN JOSE, CA (September 3, 1997)-TeleVideo, Inc. (NASDAQ:TELV), a
leading manufacturer of high performance computer monitors and terminal
displays, today announced the completion of a strategic alliance with
Applied Photonics Technology, Inc. (APT), a high-tech engineering firm
specializing in advanced electronics display technology.

APT has developed electronic Outdoor Media Display systems for
advertising use that feature high-resolution, full-color video images
comparable to home television picture quality. These are the first and
only systems of their kind with the brightness necessary for outdoor
viewing in sunlight, greatly broadening the potential applications. This
and other technical accomplishments have given APT a significant
intellectual property portfolio.

Key markets for APT's systems include high-end billboard and illuminated
signs, sports stadiums and arenas, transportation terminals, volume
retailers and malls, and safety/public information displays. Display
sites using APT's technology will be linked into local and national
networks, allowing individual display locations to share space and time
with a wide variety of advertisers and other information sources.

TeleVideo has invested $3 million in the smaller company. Both firms are
based in San Jose, CA.

"As a pioneer in display solutions, we are very interested in any
innovations in this area, and APT's proprietary technology is a major
innovation," said Dr. K. Philip Hwang, CEO of TeleVideo. "APT is the
first company to make daytime use of electronic outdoor media displays
practical, and we believe there will be a considerable demand for their
products that will bring us a significant return on our investment."

"TeleVideo has over 20 years of contacts in the display manufacturing
business, and they already have been instrumental in introducing us to
key suppliers for the components we use in our system," said Chuck
Antone, CEO of APT. "The synergy between the companies is very
promising."
