Bob,
Actually the Minister of Finance said he was considering selling Japanese bonds and using the stock the Japanese gvt holds as collateral for the new issue. He clearly stated that this money should be aimed at economic troubles not "pump priming."

It took only 4 minutes.........and I quote................................................ .."The won fell its 10 percent limit against the dollar for the fourth day running today. It took a mere four minutes to plunge to 1,719.8 against the U.S. unit."
ALS0-Japan has 560 some billion of BAD bank loans now and holds 24 billion or so of Korean loans. Another 24 billion could be the final nail in the coffin. Perhaps not. We have to see. The disaster secenario is nikki and yen start to tumble, us treasuries get unloaded, US interest rate climb, us stock market reacts.
Tharos- whats the mood in japan? Word from Korea is everyone is looking around the house for foreign coins. People feel guilty just drinking coffee.
