During the call you could run that dos command then tell them excitedly that whatever they just did it worked and you are so happy they called. When they deny they did anything just tell them they're being too modest and that they are wonderful people for fixing your computer for free.

Thank you. Typical MS though. It would be too easy and accomodating to give as an option that we could choose from drop down menu something like "Empty the Event Log" that would be just too much to as from MS :-)

And thank you for reporting your hobby to us. I'm really enoying reading it.
