For all the fighting on Capitol Hill over how to end the government shutdown, the reality is that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) could do it right now if he wanted to.

All Boehner has to do is bring a “clean” continuing resolution to the House floor -- that is, a bill to fund the government without any strings attached -- and give it a vote. Most, if not all, Democrats would vote for it, and enough Republicans are publicly now on board to pass it. The Huffington Post has been keeping a running tally of which Republicans have said they support doing this. Privately, more GOP lawmakers have indicated they would as well.

Our democracy makes those decisions.

Really, you mean its not aliens?

Of course our democratically elected government makes a lot of decisions (although it should still be constrained by law, esp. the highest law, the constitution which it too often goes beyond). What does that have to do with "We need to maintain some form of organized law" as a response to complaints about a shutdown of an attraction that's primarily run outside of federal control?

We don't need the federal government acting like this and when it does its acting in a way that's required to "maintain some form of organized law", nor in any way that's important for democracy, or that the people are calling for.
