I really wish they wouldn't do these stories, as they stir up the Luddites. Remember Clinton bellowing about making human cloning illegal? Sooner or later they resurrect the old "monsters in the sewers" rap on biotech.

Interesting article--I agree that human cloning will come soon, although I don't know if it will be before year 2000.

Today is quite a day for the Nasdaq, down about 1.75% in light of Oracle's poor earnings and renewed fears over Asia impacting earnings of US stocks. However, Asia was blamed for only 3% of ORCL's shortfall and their revenues increased substantially.

As for biotechs, they are doing quite a bit better than the overall Nasdaq, down less than 1% on the day despite both NRGN and PDLI being off 7 on bad news. For NRGN that represents a loss of over 33% of it value. Biotech rally may be set back a bit by market conditions

In light of all this, LGND remains unchanged which is pretty good for a day like today. Volume looks like it may beat yesterday. Hope we see good Panretin results this week. Poor results would decimate the stock, altho with the new FDA, I think LGND only needs one good P3 to apply for approval. However, Panretin results should be fine.
