Government ShutDown Becoming Public Relations Debacle For Obama
.........................................................................................................................

October, 2, 2013 —

On day two of the Great Government Shut Down, WWII veterans once again crossed the Regime’s barricades to enter into their memorial.

[iframe class="youtube-player" type="text/html" src="http://mash.network.coull.com/activatevideo?video_provider_id=2&pid=8165&website_id=22017&width=780&height=469&embed_type=IFRAME&video_provider_url=http%3A//www.youtube.com/embed/J_0NoHPxO4A%3Fversion%3D3%26rel%3D1%26fs%3D1%26showsearch%3D0%26showinfo%3D1%26iv_load_policy%3D1%26wmode%3Dtransparent" style="max-width: 100%;" frameborder="0" height="469" scrolling="no" width="780"][/iframe]

Although Dingy Harry Reid tried to blame the memorial shutdowns on the GOP, earlier today, a spokesman from the National Park Service has confirmed that it was the White House OMB that ordered the barricades.

On Hannity, last night Rand Paul said Some Government ‘Idiot’ Sent ‘Goons’ To Barricade WWII Memorial. But that was before we found out that the WH OMB was behind it. Moments ago on The Mike Huckabee Show, he said, (paraphrasing) ‘the President assigned 5 sec guards to protect WWII memorial – that’s 2 more than he had in Benghazi’…

Meanwhile, according to According to the Washington Examiner’s Charlie Spiering, two more groups of veterans are planning to break through the barriers, World War II veterans from Missouri and Kansas will arrive Wednesday morning to visit the memorial and about 12 members of Congress plan to join them.

That is not all. There are over 35,000 veterans scheduled to visit the memorial during the month of October, more than 900 in the next five days alone.

Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio has a trip scheduled to depart from Toledo on Oct. 9, according to local reports.

The Honor Flight of Northwest Ohio President Lee Armstrong was told that his group of WWII veterans would face arrest if they tried to cross the barricades.

He says they are considering going ahead with the trip even if the government is still on shutdown, but when he called the parks service, he was told they would face arrest.

“I said, are you kidding me? You’re going to arrest a 90/91-year-old veteran from seeing his memorial? If it wasn’t for them it wouldn’t be there. She said, ‘That’s correct sir.’”

When Armstrong asked for her name, he says she did not give it to him and then promptly hung up the phone.

Meanwhile, the WH Deputy Press Secretary is Tweeting WWII Memorial ‘Ransom Notes’:

In fact, I think maybe the best thing we’ve got going for our side right now, is Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama.

“You do have to wonder about the wisdom of an organization that would use staff they don’t have the money to pay to evict visitors from a park site that operates without costing them any money,” she said.

IRS targeted Dr. Ben Carson after Prayer Breakfast speech

SEE ALSO: Marriage group to sue IRS over donor leak, says list went to political enemies

Just months after he gave a speech earlier this year that challenged America’s leadership in President Obama’s presence, Dr. Ben Carson was targeted by IRS agents who requested to review his real estate holdings and then conducted a full audit without finding any wrongdoing.

“I guess it could be a coincidence, but I never had been audited before
and never really had any encounters with the IRS,” Dr. Carson said in an interview Thursday with The Washington Times. “But it certainly would make one suspicious because we know now the IRS has been used for political purposes and therefore actions like this come under suspicion.”

Dr. Carson is a world-renowned neurosurgeon whose rise from poverty and a single family home, and his medical work with pediatric patients was celebrated in a movie called “Gifted Hands.”

He has electrified the conservative world with speeches and columns since his February National Prayer Breakfast speech in front of Mr. Obama, in which he decried the “moral decay and fiscal irresponsibility” of America in recent years. He writes a weekly column for The Times.

Dr. Carson first hinted at the problem earlier this week during a speech in Alabama when he made a vague reference to having his first “encounter with the IRS” earlier this year.

Dr. Carson told The Times that IRS agents contacted him in June — less than four months after the speech — and requested to review his real estate holdings. After finding nothing that concerned them, the agents then informed him they were conducting a full audit of his finances, and then asked to go back an additional year to review his records, he said.

They finally ended the review in August after finding no problems, Dr. Carson said.

“They told me everything was in good standing and left,” he said.

Asked whether he thought the audit was a retaliation for his speech, Dr. Carson quipped: “I guess I’m surprised it took them that long.”

He said the more serious issue is that the IRS has been politicized — “something that should never have happened” — and that leaves all of its activities open to suspicion.

For no other reason than spite, Barack Obama ordered the open-air World War II Memorial park closed and barricaded. In doing so, he intentionally shut the door on veterans visiting -- for perhaps the last time in their lives -- under the " Honor Flight" program.

Now, for those who aren't aware, this memorial is in an open-air park, it was paid for with private funds, and it is unattended. According to its website, it is open to the public 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

That is, until the Obama administration doesn't get its way. That's when this kind of disgraceful idiocy occurs:

Again, out of pure spite, Barack Obama ordered the open-air memorial barricaded to prevent access. He also ordered the arrest of veterans entering the grounds.

How do I know Obama's actions were motivated by pure spite? Courtesy of John McCormack, here's the barricade around the World War I Memorial:

So we know as a matter of fact, not speculation, that the barricades were intended to spit in the faces of veterans visiting the Memorial for perhaps the first and last time in their lives.

Earlier today, Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act request to get to the bottom of this outrageous act on the part of an administration that is completely out of control. Governor Sarah Palin also called for civil disobedience.

This is why I liken Obama to a petulant six-year old throwing a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his own way.

IRS Sued By The National Organization For Marriage For Leaking Tax Information

Townhall.com ^ | October 3, 2013 | C. J Ciaramella

Conservative org claims it has irrefutable proof IRS illegally leaked donor info

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) filed suit against the federal government and the Internal Revenue Service Thursday, claiming it had “irrefutable proof” someone within the agency illegally leaked the conservative organization’s confidential tax returns to its ideological opponents last year.

NOM is seeking damages from the disclosure, as well as to overturn a statute shielding the IRS from disclosing any information about the incident, according to a complaint filed by the Act Right Legal Foundation on behalf of NOM in the Eastern District of Virginia Thursday.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) obtained the NOM’s 2008 tax returns in February 2012, which contained an unredacted list of donors, including presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The president of the HRC became a national co-chair for the Obama reelection campaign in 2012 a day later.

NOM Chairman John Eastman said the group was able to remove redaction layers from the PDF documents that were leaked, showing that they came from within the IRS. The unauthorized disclosure of tax information is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

No criminal charges have been filed after 18 months.

An internal investigation by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) was conducted, but the results were never released.

“So far the IRS and Obama Administration officials have stonewalled our every attempt to get information or answer basic questions about who knew what inside the IRS and who in the Obama administration had any information or involvement in this crime,” NOM chairman John Eastman said in a statement. “Our lawsuit will be a powerful tool in ending the stonewalling and getting the truth to the American people.”

Testifying before a congressional committee in May, acting IRS Commissioner Miller testified that he believed that TIGTA “found that those disclosures were inadvertent and there’s been discipline in one of those cases for somebody not following procedures.”

NOM’s donor list, including home addresses and phone numbers, were also posted on The Huffington Post, which has refused to take them down.
NOM claims in court filings that it lost contributions in excess of $50,000 as a result of the leak.

NOM said it filed several Freedom of Information requests to determine if someone within the organization sought the documents. The results came back negative.

The IRS came under fire this year for singling out conservative and tea party organizations for additional scrutiny, such as audits and long waits for tax-exempt status.

Several other conservative organizations have had confidential tax documents leaked over the past year, including donor lists being posted without redactions on GuideStar.

American For Prosperity, a conservative group tied to the billionaire philanthropist Koch Brothers, had its donor lists from 2003 leaked to GuideStar, where it was picked up by National Journal.

In another instance, investigative news outlet ProPublica received applications from 31 nonprofits from the IRS in November 2012, including nine that had not yet been approved and thus were not supposed to be made public.

All of the confidential applications belonged to conservative groups. One application leaked by the IRS was that of Crossroads GPS, the biggest spender among 501(c)(4) groups in the 2012 election cycle.

As reported by the Washington Free Beacon, ProPublica extensively covered so-called “dark money” conservative groups and donors during the 2012 election cycle, such as casino mogul Sheldon Adelson, while largely ignoring similar spending on the left.

Although the Cincinnati IRS office—the same office at the heart of the IRS “targeting” scandal—leaked the applications to ProPublica, an official IRS spokeswoman told the news outlet it would be a felony to publish them.

“As far as we know, the Crossroads application is still pending, in which case it seems that either you obtained whatever document you have illegally, or that it has been approved,” Jonathan Collegio, the group’s spokesman, wrote to ProPublica in December.

Other groups had documents leaked in the midst of a bitter election year as well.

The IRS “inadvertently” published the donor list of the Texas Public Policy Foundation (TPPF)—a conservative think tank—on GuideStar in 2012.

The list quickly became fodder for left-wing opponents of the think-tank.

Senior Obama administration official Austan Goolsbee singled out Koch Industries, run by the Koch brothers, during a 2012 press conference and said it paid no income taxes.

Such tax information is supposed to be private, leading to accusations from Republicans and Koch Industries that the Obama administration illicitly looked at its tax filings.

Although TIGTA reportedly closed an investigation into Goolsbee’s comments, it refused to confirm or deny its existence in response to a FOIA request filed by the Free Beacon, citing a privacy exemption.

TIGTA and the IRS gave the same response to NOM after it filed FOIA requests seeking information on the illegal disclosure of its tax records.

According to TIGTA, a Watergate-era statute prohibits it from disclosing any taxpayer information, even to the target of unauthorized disclosures.

“The IRS is involved in a massive cover-up, and it’s time to say, ‘no, this statute protects the taxpayers, not the IRS,’” Eastman said.

The Human Rights Campaign and the IRS did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

PHOTO: National Park Service Barrycades Scenic Overlooks on the GW Parkway

The Obama regime is so stupid. Why don't they just barrycade all the interstate highways?

Take a look at this photo. It was taken in Washington, D.C., this morning, 9:10 AM Eastern time.

This is a scenic overlook on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Washington, D.C. The GW is one of the most scenic routes around the nation’s capital. Scenic overlooks are unmanned places where motorists can pull in, park for a couple minutes, look around, maybe snap a photo, and then move on with their day. There are no amenities. It’s just a small parking lot.
The truck belongs to the National Park Service. Note the logo on its door. It’s this logo.

It doesn’t cost a cent to leave the scenic overlooks unmanned. But it does cost money — pay, fuel, the cost of the obstacles — to send National Park Service personnel out with Barrycades to block them off.

Obama’s Reckless Default Fear-mongering
...........................................................
Larry Kudlow | Oct 05, 2013

Never before has an American president threatened and risked the U.S. economy and financial markets the way Barack Obama has in recent days. For his own narrow political ends, Obama and his minions have actually accused the Republican party of deliberately provoking a Treasury debt default because they don’t agree with the Obama position on the continuing budget resolution and the debt ceiling.

“As reckless as a government shutdown is . . . an economic shutdown that results from default would be dramatically worse,” Obama said on Thursday. Clearly targeting Republicans, he said a default would be “the height of irresponsibility.”

Then, on the same day, Obama’s Treasury Department released a brutal statement that said a default would prove catastrophic, causing credit markets to freeze and leading to “a financial crisis and recession that could echo the events of 2008 or worse.”

So who exactly in the Republican ranks is calling for a Treasury debt default? Who? The GOP disagrees with Obama on the budget and health care, but no Republicans have ever said they favor defaulting on the nation’s debt.

What’s going on here?

I have a strong suspicion that Obama and his troops are trying to provoke a massive sell-off in stocks and bonds to further their political position. And a massive sell-off like that could conceivably become a self-fulfilling prophecy, driving the economy into recession. Indeed, it could drive the whole global economy back into recession, since U.S markets are the epicenter of the world’s system.

This kind of political tactic is beneath the presidency.
No president has ever menaced and assaulted the financial world to achieve short-term political gains the way Obama has. This has never happened before.

And frankly, because of the extraordinary importance of our financial system, especially after the crisis of 2008, Obama’s selfish tactics border on the unpatriotic. Presidents don’t act that way. They are custodians of their office. They attempt to create a positive legacy for the future. And they don’ttry to pull down the whole system for their own gain.

This is negativism to a fault. The people in the White House and Treasury know better. But apparently they know no political bounds.

According to a Wall Street Journal story, one senior Obama official went so far as to say, “We are winning . . . it doesn’t really matter to us how long the shutdown lasts, because what matters is the end result.”

Obama lacks a sense of historical experience and doesn’t recognize what a high-stakes game he is playing.

Earlier this year, House Republican Tom McClintock and 106 co-sponsors introduced the Full Faith and Credit Act, which would protect the payment, principal, and interest on U.S. Treasury securities, including those held by Social Security funds, even in the event that the federal debt reaches the statutory limit. In other words, by law, no default. Two years ago Senator Pat Toomey introduced similar legislation. And more recently, House Financial Services chairman Jeb Hensarling renewed the campaign for that bill. But Obama and the Democrats have always opposed it. And how bizarre is it that Obama opposes the one piece of legislation that would make it impossible for him or anybody else to make Treasury-default accusations?

Down through the years, presidents have made policy mistakes that severely damaged the value of stocks and bonds. And roughly 100 million Americans now own stocks, while countless others own bonds. And in our interconnected world, foreign investors around the globe participate in these markets. Yet our current president would risk all these assets by making phony default charges and by virtually threatening a financial and economic catastrophe if he doesn’t get his way on the shutdown and the debt ceiling.

Here’s a little bit of good news. Stocks and bonds were virtually flat across the first four days of the shutdown. They have so far ignored Obama’s phony default charges. And they know that the U.S. will never -- never -- default on its Treasury obligations.

So once again I argue that markets are smarter than politicians. Let’s hope I’m right.

Democrats are curb-stomping veterans
...................................................................................................
congressnewsletter.net ^ | October 3, 2013 | Steve Stockman

Dear patriot,

There is no other way to put it. Democrats are curb-stomping veterans.

My father served in World War II and fought the Nazis.

He was cared for by the Veterans Administration until he passed away.

That is why I am beyond outraged at the Democrats’ vote last night to cut off funding for veterans care during a government shutdown.

I was here during the 1995 shutdown. Clinton worked with us to pass and sign a bill keeping VA claims funded.

Obama? He publicly announced he would veto funding to process VA claims and Nancy Pelosi ordered Democrats to cut off the funds.

Tueday night Democrats carried out Obama’s order, killing a bill to keep processing VA claims.

That is sick.

Even worse, the World War II Memorial in D.C. was ordered barricaded and anyone who tries to visit it arrested, even though it is unstaffed and open 24 hours a day, even during holidays and government shutdowns.

Park rangers confirm that order came directly from the Office of Management and Budget, an Obama-run office inside the White House.

Obama set up this confrontation, and even had Park Police warn wheelchair-bound 90-year-old vets may be arrested for seeing it before they die, because he hoped the mainstream media would blame Republicans.

What kind of person intentionally attacks disabled heroes because he’s certain his allies in the media will falsely blame his opponents?

Barack Obama and the Democrats intentionally set up this government shutdown by refusing to pass a budget and then blocking continuing resolutions.

We know see why. Obama and Democrats are curb-stomping veterans because they believe their allies in the mainstream media will falsely blame it on Republicans, even though orders to kill funding and close war memorials come on the letterhead of Democrat leaders and the White House.
