"A shutdown doesn't require the government act this way" Of course not; it requires everybody to lock up, turn off the lights, and go home. "Its all about causing more pain to use for political purposes." Yes; we know that. Were y'all hoping nobody would notice? What else could "We will fund the government if you get rid of the law you used to beat us like we were dirty rugs in the last election" possibly be, except politics? Tonight Rachel Maddow opened her show with a segment that gets right to the heart of the matter as to why our government shut down tonight. Rachel played an audio recording of Republican Congressman Lynn Westmoreland from Georgia, speaking in September ahead of the 2010 elections. He quite bluntly tells his Republican audience that if the Republicans won control of the House, they would shut down the government. It was a promise to be fulfilled. dailykos.com
