fwiw- H&Q cuts ORCL to hold: ======= Pre-announcement caused by shortfalls in database (3% growth) and applications (7% growth). Currency impact about as forecasted; drop-offs in Asian demand and in the historically strong telco market in the US were acute. Sales force re-organization has not been as successful as anticipated--further adjustments made. "Database deflation" appears evident in many areas of the market--increasing capacity and usage, but lower price points and realized revenue. New product uptake also appears low, outlook for the February quarter is quite cautious. Reducing forecast for six quarters; lowering rating to HOLD on three month stock outlook. Longer-term, Oracle is well positioned but faces transition issues in the move to a new business model. =====
