EVERYTHING is a political prop for Odungo. He even denies giving kids with cancer treatments to try to score political points. He could have called Harry Reid in and told him to pass the bill to fund the NIH, but he didn’t. He WANTS children to die to further his political agenda.

Meet the man who will make Obamacare fail

Over at Business Insider, Henry Blodget retells the story of Butch Matthews, a diehard Republican who tried Obamacare and liked it. The 61-year-old retired business owner from Arkansas was paying $1,069 per month for a catastrophic health plan. Now, he’s paying $0 for a very robust plan with only a $750 deductible.

And, surprise, surprise, Matthews likes getting his insurance at taxpayers’ expense. I have nothing but respect for him. Who could blame him? I’d take exactly the same deal if were available to me.

But it isn’t, and it can’t be. Like most people in their 30s, I still have to work for a living and generate an income well above the poverty level to provide for my family. That means I’m never getting a subsidy. I can’t live on income from previously earned wealth, as Matthews does — and that’s what gets him the full ride.

Here’s a bit more about him, from Think Progress:

“I do not work now, I’m 61, and we do have assets saved up. But still, to come up with that $1,069 per month….” he said, trailing off.

So Blodget misses the obvious here. If Obamacare becomes the new home of elderly free-riders with savings and no income who are just waiting to go on Medicare, then Republicans don’t need to shut down the government or do anything else to stop Obamacare — the program is completely doomed already.

For every person like Matthews who signs up for Obamacare, several young people need to sign up as well to balance out the risk to the insurers, lest future premiums rise unsustainably at taxpayers’ and income-earning health insurance customers’ expense. Young people won’t get a free ride like Matthews because nearly all of them have earned income to report. So far, we know their premiums will be much higher for young people in most states, and in many cases they’ll pay more than they would currently even after getting a subsidy.

Unless millions of young people volunteer themselves to pay premiums that have doubled or tripled from what was previously available to the young on the individual market, the program’s costs will spiral out of control precisely because of older (like Mr. Matthews) and sicker people who represent a large actuarial risk to the insurers. And that goes doubly for those getting a full ride on their health insurance.

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ -

A Fountain Hills man says he may soon have to get another job just to pay for healthcare insurance under the new Affordable Care Act.

Michael Cerpok, is a high school drop-out, one of six kids born to a school teacher, and doesn’t come from a wealthy family. He has run two businesses for more than 25 years and says he may have to do more to literally stay alive.

“I've worked hard because I've had to, and I’ve had to, because cancer runs in my family," says Cerpok, who picked his current health insurance based on that family history. His monthly premium is just about half of his monthly take-home pay.

Back in 2006, he found out he had an incurable form of leukemia that requires ongoing treatment until he dies.

In 2012, his treatment bill was more than $350,000. But because of his insurance, his out-of-pocket was only $4,500.

That’s about to change because Michael just got a letter from his insurance carrier saying as of January 1, he would be dropped from coverage because of new regulations under Obamacare. His doctor at the Mayo Clinic may be gone as well.

"Now it doesn't mean I can't go see my current doctor, but my $4,500 out-of-pocket, is going to turn into a minimum of $26,000 out-of-pocket to see the doctor that I’ve been seeing the last seven years," he said.

Michael realizes millions of people will benefit from the coverage, but he wants them to realize that others are making sacrifices to make that happen.

He says that he and his wife will continue to look at their options, try and find a similar plan, and if they need to, they’ll pick up second jobs.

On Tuesday morning, seven National Park Service employees were seen erecting and tending to a barricade around the World War II memorial in Washington, D.C. One NPS employee was operating a forklift. There usually aren't any NPS employees working at the World War II memorial.

A couple hours later, when an Honor Flight of World War II veterans arrived, accompanied by Democratic and Republican members of Congress, the fences blocking the memorial were easily moved away, allowing the veterans to enter.

But the barriers are still at the memorial, and they've been reinforced. This morning, I walked by the memorial and noticed that wires had been used to tie the fences together:

obama is an evil asshole and you voted for him, shame, shame, shame
