Bob,
I always identify the reasons that I buy a company when I buy it. I will continue to hold / increase my position as long as the company is showing progress in these 3 indicators.
Ref MTEL being recognized by Wall Street. Watch Analyst Buy Recommendations and Institutional Ownership as well an earnings upgrades. I have held stocks for over a year.
Q) How long do you wait? Weeks . . . months . . . years. Have only sold 6 stocks this year.
Q) Do you wait for signs of a turnaround? Depends on the type of turnaround. I usually take an initial position in a stock and then constantly add to my position over time as long as the company continues to shows signs of improvement ( ie indicators improving )
Q) Role of insider buying . . Impt to me. I feel confident buying stocks that insiders are buying. Have made some bad decisions when I saw insider selling . . and sold also . . like MIND and PACC and TMSR by taking profits too early.
Q) Ref how long I hold and evidence of a turnaround. I have held stocks like BIPL that have reported several qtrs of record revenue growth without any significant increase in price.
Q) Position in Stocks. Most of my stocks have dropped at least 25% from my initial price rec. Even with this drop, I have managed to have 3 straight years of over 100% gains. My timing has not been the best but if you are right on the fundamentals not being reflected in the price . time diversification will make up for early entry Each individual needs to do his/her dd before buying a stock.
