Do you not understand We gave Government the authority and power to provide all those things I cited earlier?

No, I do not understand it, because it isn't so.

the thing you cited before was the preamble to the Constitution. It has no legal relevance. It is an introduction to the legal document. Further, the part that you cited does not mean what you think it means. There are many words in the English language that have multiple meanings. When you run into these words, you have to look at context to understand which meaning applies. Within the context of the legal document of the US Constitution, it is clear that "welfare" does not mean government provided financial aid. The US Constitution defines specific powers that the People have granted to the government. There is nothing within the legal part of the document that grants this power to the government. Therefore the power does not exist.

Additionally, within the context of the sentence, the word "promote" clearly does not mean "provide". Even if we assumed that the word "welfare" means what you think it does and that the preamble had some legal relevance, the word "promote" would simply give the government the power to encourage private individuals and groups to provide the welfare.

But thank you for providing a clear illustration of the challenges we face going forward. I understand that your way of thinking is pervasive in the liberal population. I understand that you either don't understand basic English or that you willfully disregard the obvious meaning of words and/or sentences. I understand that it is pointless to try to have a rational discussion with liberals until we can agree on a common language where words have specific definitions and sentences have specific meanings.

Quite simply, we can't expect liberals to respect the rule of law when they won't even respect the rules of language.
