And SS Colas are adjustments to initial payments that are based off of wages. All of those things declined in terms of hours worked to purchase.

Most of them also went down in terms of real prices. So even after retirement begins (and the future payments are no longer being adjuted by wage changes but by inflation), most of those would go down in terms of percentage of a SS check needed to buy them (all went down in terms of percentage of a SS check needed to buy them when your comparing new retirees today to one's in the past).
