All I am saying is we should take what the scientists say about global warming seriously.
Should we have taken them seriously 30 years ago when they were predicting a coming ice age?

There is a huge difference between "taking the science seriously", and "doing whatever we can", meaning taking any action that might reasonably be thought of to reduce or counter global warming.
