IBM's move has nothing to do with the ACA.........they have simply joined hundreds of companies that have placed administration or retiree's health plans with a vendor. In my case, however, since I have been using a Medicare Advantage plan, I don't have to change anything.. My plan will continue to be unchanged and administered by IBM... Retiree's who don't use Medicare Advantage have to choose from a bunch of plans offered thru the vendor. IBM is giving the cash it normally spent to do it's own admin to the employee to purchase same..... As with many other administrative functions many large companies farm out that work and don't use their own employees to do it.... IBM, for many years, has had an external service handle all of its benefits programs....
Sorry to disappoint you....
