Carrie should write down 8 and move on. I'm a civil engineer today and I was marked "wrong" at close to her age, 3rd grade by a big fat Leftist teacher who gave a math problem that was essentially 7 - 9. I wrote down -2 and was marked incorrect. You won't believe this, but I challenged her on it and I was told I didn't follow directions, I was supposed to write, and incorrectly so because SHE SAID SO, that there was no answer/the problem could not be solved. Notice that the correct answer was irrelevant. What WAS important was following her dictate no matter how insane. That's how they try to indoctrinate you folks. This was in 1973 in a public school.
