When I look at my property tax bill, I notice that I get charged for the repayment of a school bond, a community college bond, a local transport tax. And I do not use any of these; no kids in school or college, do not use public transport. But that is the way this country is where it is "we" not I.

Why is it we applaud the soldier who puts his life at risk to carry his wounded comrade instead of leaving him to die because he acted like an idiot and got in the line of fire?. Let us display that spirit instead of the mean spirit that your post portrays.

MM, come on.... old person shouldn't be taking from the younger generations, but rather we should be taking care of the younger generations.

For starters, today's older person gave to his older generation during his/her productive years. That notwithstanding, this statement is mean.

You're above this kind of base thinking about people during their most vulnerable years.

Like others here say, lots of problems in the system but old people aren't it. Just scapegoats. I also must say that I find this statement shocking. You happen to be in the 1% via your hard work. Life is strange. Nothing is really "ours forever until we die." May your fortunes continue to increase but you have no idea what the future holds and it's a really slippery slope, from a spiritual perspective, for a person of your means, who is still young enough to lose it all, to make such statements about those in their most vulnerable years.

Ponder this, MM....you're a good man of integrity.

Well what you want and what the reality is/was for seniors were two different things. If you are making an argument that we have to let unproductive 'seniors" die to clear the wy for the young you might be able to put on a case for that.

We are going to be faced with heath rationing as our life expectancies grow more and more. We don't have enough enough money to support the old forever.

Canada and England both have health systems that limit care to those over a certain age. (They can pay for it on their own if they want to).
