total nuts -- and it may happen

IMHO the Republicans failed miserably, even if they are right.
In politics you need also a game plan and know your opposition, they failed to understand that democracy is the dictatorship of the uneducated and below average intellect, they aligned themselves with the financial industry and the 1% -- this is plain idiocy -- this is why they failed

they should learn from Angela Merkel -- but then again how many US politicians have Merkel smarts and intellectual ability

The end game for and democracy or similar is always (or almost always?) someone declaring themselves supreme leader. So that is always out there as a possibility and it is a when not if. But the when part is very hard to say.

Is the US heading in the direction? Yes, they have been for a long time, maybe since the beginning depending on how you look at it. Kind of like the minute after you are born/conceived, you start heading towards death.

There are lots of warning signs and lots of them are going off now (like police becoming more militarized). But they only seem to help in a relative way as an aid in understanding how close we are. I really can’t even begin to think about how to make an absolute guess. There are too many variable and it makes my head hurt to think about it. <g/ng>
