If people cannot afford to live in the area, they will move to where they can afford to work and live. Unless you plan on the county to provide for those who cannot afford to live there. It is a shame that around the country many people have to sell their homes and move due to property taxes. I do not believe property taxes are fair to many.

Why do you live in this country?

True, they don't seem fair. But a primary objective (other than the obvious) is actually to drive up taxes and drive the retirees out of those homes... Retirees have no children at home, have lower (often fixed) incomes and tend not to be able to maintain their properties due to finances or physical ability. Neighborhoods fall into disrepair and values drop. The town fathers want new young families to move into the town to keep the tax base up and school districts highly rated... If the school district goes to pot, the town goes to pot... Many many places around the country have had activists try to declare property taxes unconstitutional and want to opt for an income tax....I know of none that have ever succeeded...do you?
