I cannot but agree fully with you. Networking is here to stay. (Show me this post in 10 years from now. We may have good laughs then!! :)

Good post, GFRFan. Need inputs from people like you who are aware of the trends of the industry and the future.

BTW I was at the Westtech job fair yesterday and one of the biggest clamor was around the 3Com booth. Cisco and Ascend were so-so.
Cabletron and Fore booth people were just smiling all the time but no luck.
Very interesting.

gfr fan .....classic post...the best. Do you know "eagle" on this thread. He hasn't posted for a while, but he also had great insight into 3Com. He indicated he was a former employee, but is currently working in a "start-up". Thanks again.

craig and gfr fan, there are so many posts on SI these days that my brains and eyeballs are running out of capacity. Thanks to both of you for answering some of my questions.

I opined that we are heading into major recession in some parts of the world and minor/no growth in others. This scenario does not bode well for high tech. Overly optimistic models are now proven to be unrealistic for the likes of ORCL.

Of all the stocks that I follow, denial is probably the best description of the tone of the day. Though many analysts have revised earnings, none have really allowed for the possibility of widespread negative growth for the next few qtrs.

Yes, networking will still be a high growth segment. I just think that there is no hurry to jump in.
