A lot of those in the list are not major wars, some small enough as to make even "war" rather questionable let alone "major war".

Also you can have more than a year of peace between two conflicts in consecutive years. 5 days in January year X, 3 days in November year X+1 gets counted as "two years of major war" on this list.

But certainly the US has been involved in an awful lot of conflicts.
