"If you are worried about the next generation, how can you accept the debt we are passing on to them?"

That's a question Republicans were asking my grandparents in '36. They will be asking my granddaughters the same question in '36. I think they should come up with a new question at least once every 50 years.

So we have a bright kid Jimmy out of high school. All grade A. But his parents do not have money to send that kid to college. So what does the family do? Go get into debt by taking out a loan. The kid graduates with flying colors, gets a very very good job and pays off the debt in no time. After repayment, the kid continues to live a good life, driving around a Mercedes, having family vacations when they please and with time registers as a Democrat to share his fortune.

Meanwhile Bill Jr. next door who also graduated with him with flying colors does not go to college because his parents believed that they do not want to take out a loan and pass on the debt to Bill Jr. So Bill does a few jobs here and there and manages to remain employed with jobs that do not pay as much. And after he gets married and has children, he barely manages to make both ends meet.

What would you rather do. Produce a Jimmy or a Bill.

If you are worried about the next generation, how can you accept the debt we are passing on to them?
