Couldn't agree more. Our "progressives" think that progress means moving towards larger and more involved and controlling government. They are mistaken - it's the opposite of what they think it is - it is, in fact, going backwards. Strong, powerful "alphas", running their tribes with a heavy hand -- that's hardly progress, that goes back for many thousands of years. True progress is respect for the rights of individuals, for freedom - which are relatively new - and still rare - phenomena in human history.

The truly progressive challenge for leaders is to be able to run successfully a free nation -- and do it inexpensively enough, so as not to undermine its creative spirit and economic potential. Instead, our leaders act as if they were business people, whose success is measured by the growth of their business.

As far as the (Un)Affordable Care Act goes - countries like Russia and China have thriving private sector healthcare sectors - while the USA is passing "reforms" which are big steps towards socialism. It's absurd.
