Prez asking Reps for a favor? No, that won't happen. More likely, he won't waste a good crisis - and will attack. He'll say - Dems had this fantastic plan for a wonderful reform, but those brutal tea partiers fought it like crazy and made it impossible. We must have what the more advanced Europeans have - a national system. Down with the greedy doctors and middlemen insurers! The only middlemen you need is your very own Uncle Sam, and his elected and appointed representatives, all the hundreds of thousands of them! Support me, the Prez will say, and y'all can live happily ever after, and everyone will get their amputations, tonsillectomies and free suppositories right on schedule! And, watch out, he is a persuasive guy.
