"Caesar's Messiah: The Roman Conspiracy to Invent Jesus"( That this myth/story was created by the court of Roman Caesar Titus Flavius to counter jewish rebellion)
amazon.com

Was Jesus the invention of a Roman emperor? The author of this ground-breaking book believes he was. "Caesar's Messiah" reveals the key to a new and revolutionary understanding of Christian origins.

The clues leading to its startling conclusions are found in the writings of the first-century historian Flavius Josephus, whose "War of the Jews" is one of the only historical chronicles of this period. Closely comparing the work of Josephus with the New Testament Gospels, "Caesar's Messiah" demonstrates that the Romans directed the writing of both. Their purpose: to offer a vision of a "peaceful Messiah" who would serve as an alternative to the revolutionary leaders who were rocking first-century Israel and threatening Rome.

Ah,that would certainly explain the "render unto Caesar" passage, you think?
en.wikipedia.org

"This phrase has become a widely quoted summary of the relationship between Christianity and secular authority. The original message, coming in response to a question of whether it was lawful for Jews to pay taxes to Caesar, gives rise to multiple possible interpretations about the circumstances under which it is desirable for the Christian to submit to earthly authority."

First I've heard of that claim. I'll bet a bunch of liberal atheists made that up.

Funny how there's a fundamental connection to evolution in all history of man that is not religious whimsy but reality beyond these random discussions of good & evil or original sin,but back to earthly concerns....

Consider the population of Constantinople at about 50,000 when 21yr old Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II laid siege to it 1453 & it fell (now Istanbul is near 14mil pop, just wow!) Many emigrants & Greek and non-Greek intellectuals fled the city before and after the siege, with a majority of them migrating to Italy, which helped fuel the Renaissance after that fall. But also in cutting off the trade routes to China & asia forced the Europeans to seek sea routes, forcing them to step up a technological revolution & arms race, becoming great sea powers after.

On one day, the young sultan made a call & brought up priests, had his entire army kneel prayer before the city walls,a show of solidarity when his resolve wavered. It had a certain effect on the enemy Christians, of course.
