BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 9, 1997--The Zoom/PC Card(tm) 56K
FaxModem was named the "Best of LAN TIMES" award winner in a
performance review of nine K56flex(tm) PC cards in the November 24th
issue of LAN TIMES magazine. The review focused on only K56flex-based
PC Cards because, according to the publication, the "majority of
vendors are siding with this technology."
This is the sixth first-place competitive award won by Zoom 56K
faxmodems in major computer publications in the past four months.
"The Zoom Telephonics Inc. 56K PC Card was the clear overall
winner, with a solid performance in every environmental condition to
which we exposed it," stated the LAN TIMES review. "The Zoom card was
also the only one to maintain strong rates in our mock hotel scenario,
making it the best choice for road use. Combine that with easy
installation and use at a moderate price, and the Zoom 56K PC Card is
one very nice selection."
"This award is very important to Zoom, especially if you consider
the overwhelming support for K56flex," said Zoom's Frank Manning,
President and CEO. "With recent widespread service roll-outs by
America Online, BellSouth, EarthLink, Erol's, GTE, Microsoft Network,
UUNet and many others, our K56flex PC Card is ideal for Internet
access nationwide. The Zoom/PC Card 56K FaxModem is also great for
access to corporate local area networks using Cisco or Shiva K56flex
remote access servers."
The Zoom/FaxModem(tm) 56Kx external faxmodem for PC and
Macintosh(r) computers has won four major awards: "Net Best" from ZD
Internet Magazine (November 1997), "BYTE BEST" from BYTE magazine
(October 1997), "Tester's Choice" from Data Communications magazine
(August 1997), and "Buy It" from CNET: The Computer Network (September
1997). PC Online, a major computer and communications publication in
Germany, rated the Zoom 56Kx the best performer and top value among
nine 56K modems in its October 1997 issue.
