I don't think you can place alot of blame on Ellison here. ORCL was the last of the database software companies to fall. Would you rather have seen the performance of Informix? Sybase? Ellison maybe could have deployed more effort earlier to ensure 2k compliance and web integration, or diversified product lines, but it appears that the dbase market has 'matured'. What he does from this point forward should judge his ability to lead, as his past predecessors have done a miserable job after issuing their initial warning.
