In fact, what has been done so far is doing a very good job of bringing the budget deficits to an end. Not in this country. The 2013 deficit will be one of the highest ever by nominal dollars, inflation adjusted dollars, and by (what I consider the most important stat) percentage of GDP. And its not bad in the short term but set up well for the long term either. Entitlement spending (now including Obamacare making the problem worse), is trending towards gobbling up the budget and to a lesser extent the economy. Then I guess we will have to raise taxes again.
