Did i use a metaphor? Heaven forbid, should i have used the parable of oxygen & carbon and make it better for you instead? The fact remains we are able to see certain epochs going all the way back, phases of many important changes to the state of matter itself, right up to the great oxygenation event here on earth, that certainly altered the composition of oceans, ocean bottoms, atmosphere & geologies.

Shall we tell the parable of the cyanobacteria & green algae that changed the face of the earth for good?

Metaphor is a wonderful thing, makes learning more pleasant & the thought experiments ring out more
clearly to the minds eye and can signify truth in wonderous ways! (Amen for the metaphor!)

he greatest thing by far is to be a master of metaphor. It is the one thing that cannot be learned from others; it is also a sign of genius, since a good metaphor implies an eye for resemblance.

Wonder what Google will return for "Metaphor & GOP" ? Ah , here's one: .... Metaphor from the House Floor: GOP asking "Can I Burn Down Your House?"

It has been posted in various forms here on the Great Orange Satan, but it generally goes

Republican: Can I burn down your house?
Democrat: No!
Republican: Can I burn down your second floor?
Democrat: No!
Republican: Can I burn down your garage?
Democrat: No!
Republican: Can we have a conference to discuss what I can burn down?
Democrat: No!

He then implores Republicans to stop burning down the house, pass funding for the government, and then they can start negotiating.

heh, heres another

So, this means that the initial report that Ryan washed clean dishes is inaccurate. Instead, his people actually called ahead and instructed the soup kitchen to leave some dishes unwashed so that he could wash them for a photo.
