I understand that you have been on the thread a long time. But back when the thread was started could you have anticipated that on top of the traditional democrats and republicans that there would be a new group that is even more unreasonable, that being the tea party. Things change, the thread should change too. Think of all of the people who are scared away from the thread because they don't want to get bullied by either the left or right. I think that the history of the thread has shown that without a moderator to make sure that everyone treated everyone else with respect, it just doesn't happen. If we had a set of rules and a moderator to enforce them, we could finally have a place where those with diverse political views could respect each other and have an intelligent exchange of views and information. We could take a vote on the rules first so that the majority defines the most fair rules for everyone. And then we vote on an objective and fair moderator.
