Did you or did you not agree with the poll showing republicans were taking a big hit because of their role in shutting down the government? Was that not discussed endlessly among the people here? Do you even remember who was doing those polls? I'm not saying that the results of the poll suggest actual support for Rand - I'm saying that the poll shows some very interesting .......call them trends.........that might suggest that a person in alignment with those trends, that thinking, will have a better chance of success than a person who does not represent them. But many here, who are admittedly in that 21% solid left block, now instead of finding the information interesting find it threatening. They dismiss the results when as you say the poll seems to have been well done. There hasn't been a clamor that it was sloppy or poorly done. I do agree with Epicure that when the question(s) are put differently you get different results. So for instance if you ask if you agree with the following statement ........."knowing your Social Security check will have to shrink to bring down the debt do you favor shrinking your Social Security check to bring down the debt" ..........well of course the answer is obvious. But then that is part of the problem - we all want ours and we want the other guy to pay.
