Follow-up

Offered initially as a rollout from the Ann Arbor (and the Wheaton, Ill) tests, expansion is planned.

They will use the Alcatel 1000 external and require Win95. It will be prebundled with a special MS Internet Explorer (which has high-bandwidth bookmarks preset).

The cost will be $250 installed, but for a time they are waving the $100 for the ATMS-25 NIC card making it a $150 cost. Then $50/month which includes connection to Ameritech.net as your ISP.

No splitter as it requires the hook-up of a seperate dedicated phone line which will NOT be used for POTS. It will go through a SEPARATE network at the CO. You will NOT be eligible for the service IF your phone lines are farther than 7700 air feet or 10K linear (cable) ft. You will ALSO not be eligible, even IF within the required distance, if there is are digital lines (a DLC) connecting to your CO.

Takes about 3 weeks to get hooked up. $150 includes everything (equipment/installation) to get you up .

Steve
