I agree with you, last year the problem was brought to the attention of Janet Reno by Sen Riegel (?), I believe. At the time there was much discussion in the press about the situation and as I recall the NASD seemed be in some denial of extent of the situation. At the time, their budget for enforcing their rules was published and the resources they have for dealing with the situation are enormous. The SEC budget was also discussed and their resources seem barely adequate. The investigative articles, which have been published in the Business Week series for the past year, seem to have spurred more interest from regulators and law enforcement, ie FBI. It is in everyone's best interest that their be faith in the market place.
