You're covered in Canada and the U.S. Your Autoplan insurance covers you anywhere in Canada and the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii.

As long as you're only using your car for vacation purposes outside B.C., you don't need to change your insurance policy. If you're mixing travel with business, you may need to change your coverage. Check with your Autoplan broker.

More then likely, he has good coverage.. CD is a well-travelled guy..

Besides, now a days, even with ICBC insurance and depending on the type of Visa used to rent the car, you'd have very good coverage (-deductible).. The fact that it happened in USA means and he was not at fault, law suit will be the order of the day.. Americans are used to that..
