He is wrong again, about who developed the technology.

The two inventors who founded Wi-Lan developed the technique of using multiple spreading codes , for each individual user ...... well before Qualcom utilized the same technique.

Qualcom added a new twist... that being increasing the number of individual users from one to many.

Thus, rather than assigning a time slot to each user to define them from a group or network. ....

their users are defined by distinct (but multiple) spreading codes.

Again they piggybacked their technology onto that which was developed by the Wi-Lan company founders.

As far as the Qualcomm chip goes ...... this special spreading / modulation technique (ie ABILITIES) remains LATENT within the chip .....

UNTIL the device makers append their own ABILITIES and TECHNIQUES to those which are inherent to the Qualcomm chip.

These multiple abilities and techniques are called into play, and are fully utilized .... when the device initially encounters other like devices over the ether merriam-webster.com

Politics and persuasion carry more weight than facts. This is a jury trial, not a panel of experts.

Apple has become something of a cherished son in the eyes of the US public. The appeal process is there to correct legal or procedural problems.

I did not follow this case at all except post-trial reading. Was Wi-LAN getting cocky by asking tyoo much of an award?
