Thanks for your thoughts on Oracle. I'm thinking this is one to acquire for the long term especially since its being marked down for Christmas. I established a covered call today by buying at 23 1/4 and selling Jan 24 3/8 options for 1 11/16. I'm tending to agree that in the short term they will be flat to slightly off current levels. Longer term I'm bullish....

I agree that no other DB vendor is going to threaten their marketshare. Their database is clearly the most powerful and I think is in position to become the Windows of DBs; squashing all competition. I am a little leary of Ellison's focus however. I hope he doesn't take his eye off the ball (selling and servicing DBs) with all of this Network Computer stuff. I got smoked with Informix when they lost focus and once is enough...

As of 2:50, 141 million shares traded! By my calculations that works out to about 7300 shares per second.
