Hi everyone.
Seeq makes announcement late in the day today.

Dec 10,1997--Announces the 8101, the newest member of SEEQ'S growing
Gigabit Ethernet Controller family.
Following closely on the heels of the 8110 PCI Gigabit MAC
announced in October, the 8101 maintains pin compatibility with SEEQ'S
industry-standard 8100 Gigabit MAC, while adding key features and
performance upgrades that provide Gigabit systems designers with the
industry's most advanced controller.
Aimed at Gigabit switch ports, uplinks, backbones, buffered
repeaters and adapter cards, the 8101 offers designers significantly
higher performance with additional unique features not available in
other MAC solutions.

This is good news for seeq. This second generation chip was designed
because of the feed back from seeq's customers. This chip I believe
will be compatible with the first generation gigabit released by Seeq.

Good Luck Seeq looks like a buy at this price.
