Beautiful song by Waylon, always the more laid back & enlightened country , not the wealthy privilged cocktail imbibing set, they don't make them like that anymore. (Going back a little further, songs "God Bless America" , "White Christmas" and "Easter Parade"... all written by an immigrant Russian Jew from Belarus, Israel Isidore Baline , Irving Berlin, love America.) Here's Carl Sagan's last interview with Charlie Rose, before the bone marrow cancer consumed him, but about 3mins in discussing "The Demon Haunted World" . He's pointing out two grave problems, how a country arranging itself around science & tecnology with so little economic & scientific literacy, leaves itself wide open in a combustable position of ignorance & power. Look how much this one skeptical atheist did to clarify science for the world, still gets 500,000 views on youtube, left lasting memories & inspired so many kids. Very well adjusted human being, we might add, compared to the wing nut right.
