I sold my long on MSFT @ $ 143.625 and the subsequent one I bought on INTC @ $ 76.625 (sold @ $ 76.56). I read the ORCL report and thought it boded poorly for the general market. They blamed a lot of problems on Asians currencies, etc. I sold as soon as I read it. I'm not sure why I didn't read it earlier. I wonder if this market will have troulbe going up from here.

I went short 1 s&p Dec futures contract based on the belief that the S&P won't break its top, around 10 pts higher, because of foreign earnings fears. Aside from this one position, I am all cash. If the S&P breaks its old high, I will sell. Until then, I plan to be short for a time.

Coke has been downgraded because of international exposure and now a $ 6 bil in rev company (ORCL) loses 1/3 of its value because of its earnings. At the same time, this $ 6 bil company seems to have justified many of the fears about the Asian market crisis when it complained about the Asian currency devaluations, etc., hurting rev and earnings. Tomorrow, when more people adjust to the news, I expect the market to drift lower. However, we are in an incredible bull market so who knows- but I think the odds are in my favor for at least a 20 pt drop from here. In any case, I think new highs aren't real likely.

I shorted my 1 s&p Dec futures @ $ 977.80 . Cash price: 976.90 or so.
